My Laser Hair Removal Experience

All Your Questions on Laser Hair Removal Answered…

Laser hair removal

Does it hurt?

Not much, I would describe it as a little sting. It may hurt a bit in areas closer to the bone or with pigmentation. Crank up the AC to full as the heat is what caused me most discomfort.

How many sessions does one need?

I think this depends from person to person so best to speak to your dermatologist. They usually suggest 6 to 8. My legs saw reduction within a few sessions (around 4). My arms that had very fine hair and light hair seem to be taking longer.

How long is each session?

It takes time (also depends on what all you plan to get done). If doing arms and legs together, clear your day. Enjoy a coffee break in the middle. I look at it as a break from my phone and laptop screen. The machine makes a constant beeping sound so take headphones if you want to listen to music or a podcast.

Any side effects?

When you go in they will explain that you may have mild side effects, which typically go away in a few days. I had NONE from the laser treatment. If required, they may apply numbing cream to sensitive areas and I found out I am allergic to those from a terrible rash. So please do a patch test before applying any topical cream or ointments.

Why did I wait so long to get it done?

I am a complete scary poo when it comes to any type of “beauty treatments.” I debated for a year before putting my hands inside the gel nail polish thing. I am yet to get a facial… So, you can only imagine how much I debated before going in for this.

How does it work?

The technician will cleanse and shave the area. She will mark the area, to divide it into sections. Your eyes will be covered with protective goggles. Cooling gel will be applied and then the laser treatment will begin.

Where did I get it done?

Isya Aesthetics https://isyaderm.com/. Dr Kiran and her entire team are really easy to talk to. It helps calm my nerves that they patiently answer my countless questions. I am a bit of a cleanliness freak and really worry about sterility when it comes to the same machine or room being used for different people. The hygiene of the place was also a big factor in my selection.

Would I recommend it?

YES! It makes life so much easier. Considering I used to swim daily, doing this in my 20s would have saved me a lot of time and money.
