All in Spring/Summer 2013

Although the Spring/Summer is coming to an end. Here are some goodies that I wish were available in India. Take a look at some uber exclusive limited edition pieces from Tod's Spring/Summer 2013 COUTURE Collection.

Inspired by the facinating world of couture these D-Bag and matching shoes made with calf leather and exotic phython using advanced manufacturing techniques.

The embroidered bags are available in Silver, gold, black, powder pink, sun and tanand “rainbow." The powder pink is my favourite. Take a look...

I had the opportunity to attend a style presentation by leading stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania a few days ago. Marc Cain hosted a summer trends presentation at their new boutique at Napean Sea Road with the stylist to the stars talking about the brand, their diverse lines and all things fashion.

I am sure a lot of you are wishing you were there...given that Anaita Shroff Adajania is undoubtedly the most sought after stylist in the country. While I can't list everything, here is a little recap from the evening. For me, the big take away from the presentation were introduction to Marc Cain, print blocking and experimenting with separates.

Designer Shehla Khan shares tips for dressing up for the sweltering Indian summer.

I pick my clothes each morning based on the colour I feel like wearing and Shehla recommends opting for shades close to the skin tone, particularly muted pastels. "White is and always will be a summer favorite but the colours which will also stand out this season are champagne pink, fuchsia, faded red, mint green, black and baby blue. One must keep the heat and the humidity in mind. If you opt for bright colours then one should pair with pastels to achieve a good balance,” explains Shehla.

Here is a look at some beautiful pieces from Tarun Tahiliani's Spring/Summer 2013 collection. These pieces represent the designer's unique take on the colorblocking trend. Featuring trademark digital printes with a revolutionised twist.

I personally loved the pieces specially the one in the picture above. Time for some more summer shopping...

Samsaara in association with Harper’s Bazaar India hosted a private preview to showcase the new Spring/Summer arrivals at their luxurious boutique in Kemps Corner, Mumbai.

Leading designers dressed a muse of their choice to showcase their summer line. The ladies of the evening represented everything from festive finery to casual chic. Madhoo Shah looked regal in a resplendent gold and maroon sharara from Anand Kabra, that she wore with a gold Bottega Veneta knot and Jimmy Choo sandals. Dipanita Sharma was radiant in a Nachiket Barve saree and neon Jimmy Choo clutch. Nisha Javeri looked ravishing in an antique gold sweeping gown from Paras and Shalini’s label, Geisha designs. Nishka Lulla channeled the boho chic vibe in a tunic from her own collection and a gold leather ETRO clutch.

The evening saw an amazing a turnout, with Deepika Gehani and Ami Patel from Harper's Bazaar playing gracious hosts. Something that deserves a special mention, was the Isharya, jewellery display. The modern Indian designer jewellery had everyone talking (and shopping). I personally loved the stuff and will soon be doing a special post on them so stay tuned.

For now, here are lots of pictures from the event...

I've always found lace-ups to be really cool, even for women but have never really gotten around to wearing a pair myself. Looking at Tod's Spring-Summer 2013 No_Code capsule collection, I think that might just change. For this season, Tod's combines a long heritage of shoe making with the cutting-edge lifestyle of visionary editor Jefferson Hack to create six functional styles.

From the Oxford to the Desert boot, take your pick from an array of quality leathers and soft suede in range of eclectic seasonal colors.

Manish Malhotra sure knows how to put on a show. Day 1 of Lakme Fashion Week ended with a spectacular presentation by Bollywood's favourite designer that was an ode to '100 Years Of Hindi Cinema.'

In a span of twenty minutes the designer took us on a cinematic journey from 1913 to 2013 as he paid homage to iconic styles of each memorable era. The show opened with directors Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Banerjee walking down the ramp to applause, dressed in serious black. The show went from black and white pieces to pastels to neon with surprise stars at regular intervals. Screams literally brought the house down when Varun Dhawan, Siddharth Malhotra and Priyanka Chopra took the ramp.

Often called the "creative capital of the world" Los Angeles is one of my favourite places. There is this ultra-hip, ultra-happening vibe that runs through the city; that also lends to the new Spring/Summer 2013 Canali collection.

Inspired by LA, this new Canali collection has a more youthful appeal with the introduction of some bright colors. There is this easy confidence that runs through the pieces that I quite like. Take a look...

I was in Delhi last week and of course, I paid a visit to the Christian Louboutin store. One look at the window display and you know Christian Louboutin's new collection is bright, bold and beautiful.
Watersnake blues, Canary yellows, Rose pinks and flaming oranges dominate the Spring/Summer 2013 color palette. And it goes without saying I want them all...
Featured in the picture above is the "Dufora" shoe. It looks super fun with the splashes of color in varying materials including PVC. The zip closure on the back should provide support to the ankle and make it quite comfortable to wear.

Ms. Samantha Kochhar, CEO/MD, Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies, tell us what is the latest when it comes to make-up for Spring/Summer 2013...

"If there is one word that majorly describes the trend for spring 2013, then that is red lips! From velvety scarlets, bold corals to vibrant fuchsia, the only way to wear bright lips is in the matte form."

"Dab your make-up brushes in shades of turquoise and vibrant aqua. The look is not supposed to be too wild or extreme for every day wearer. Try a thin streak of green eyeliner or a smear of sapphire or a colour blocking royal blue/teal. To add glamour for the evenings, place a few sparkles around the eyes!"
