The countdown to the Lakme Fashion Week has begun. The Winter/Festive 2012 edition kicks off on August 3rd at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai. With last minute fittings in full swing and designers put their final touches to their creations, here is a look at what I am really looking forward to seeing at LAKME FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2012.
Given that this Lakme Fashion Week is all for winter, "The Indian Bride," is probably on every designer's mind. A girl can never have enough of flowers and I am really keen to see them in all shapes and sizes; be it embroidered or 3D applique details. Can't wait to see what this season has in store.
With Sabyasachi's hairbands souring on the popularity charts; funky hair-pieces are no longer just for the ramp. I am hoping to see other designers as well embrace this trend and show us how to take it from runway to reality.
We gave the world the saree and draping is clearly in our DNA. With designers like Tarun Tahiliani, Shantanu & Nikhil, Gaurav Gupta and more recently Payal Khandwala taking drapes beyond the five and half yards, daring drapes are here to stay.
Pia Pauro gave us "Tribal chic" last season with her blingy dresses that have been spotted on a whole lot of celebrities (Genelia being the most recent). Tribal influence brings with it eclectic style and a riot of colors, I hope it has been an inspiration of some of the creations that will grace the runway this season.
