All in Bollywood

I believe a lot of Indian fashion is inspired (and dictated to a large extent) by Bollywood and now that I think about it, it is quite surprising that it took so long for someone to officially launch a Bollywood inspired fashion label.

Given that Yash Raj Films is known for brining us some of Bollywood's most iconic looks, it makes perfect sense that they take the first steps in this direction as well. Think Sridevi's in Chandani, Madhuri Dixit and Karishma Kapoor in Dil Toh Pagal Hai or Aishwarya Rai in Dhoom 2. Not only were the costumes in these films trend-setters they were clearly ahead of their time.

On September 27th, the late Yash Chopra's birth anniversary was celebrated with the launch of Diva'ni. The brainchild of Yash Raj Films and KBSH Pvt. Ltd. this fashion label was unveiled with a star-studded fashion show.

The Times of India Film Awards 2013 were held this past weekend in Vancouver (one of my most favourite places). While one may or may not remember who won which award, there were certainly a few standout looks that are sure to be talked about.

Nargis Fakhri made a dramatic appearance in a dazzling Komal Sood gown with a risqué lit, bubble gum pink lips and tousled hair.

The most awaited awards of the year were held this weekend at Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai. I've decided to have a little fun this seriers of posts and give away awards of my own. :-))))

A red carpert no-brainer is the color black and I am loving this form fitting cutout dress from Prabal Gurung's fall 2012 collection on Deepika Padukone. Orange lips, black nail paint and a pair of Louboutins completed the look.

As Pink October is coming to an end I'd like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that supporting Breast Cancer awareness isn't limited to a month in a year or wearing a pink ribbon.

I was delighted to be part of a small group of people who got to watch Zoya Akhtar's PSA to raise awareness on October 19, 2012. At a high tea event held at Hard Rock Cafe, dressed in pink, Zoya Akhtar showcased an exclusive edit of her video along with the Ogaan Cancer Foundation Director Preeta Sukhtankar and breast cancer survivors.

This film titled "BECAUSE MY WORLD IS NOT THE SAME..." has been directed, scripted and conceputlized by Zoya Akhtar. What struck me most about the film is that has "men" talking about the "women" in their lives and what they mean to them. The fact that these men are the charming Abhay Deol, Arjun Rampal, Farhan Akhtar, Shahid Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor makes it hard for you not to instantly like the video. The actors chat candidly and encourage you to pledge your support towards this cause.

The campaign succeeds in sensitizing one towards women related ailments like Breast Cancer without being preachy.

A biker jacket is something every guy MUST invest in. You can throw one of these on anything for an the instant "cool" factor. I simply love them. :-))) Having said that, are these really appropriate for the current weather? Nope. But if you are Salman Khan or Ranbir Kapoor you and look this good in them, I guess we can choose to ignore the heat... :-)))

Ranbir Kapoor is wearing a chocolate biker jacket in distressed leather over a black tee, charcoal pants and sneakers.

See below for pictures of Salman Khan from the event...

Velvet jackets have been a big trend in menswear for the last couple of seasons. It's a bummer though that men in India tend to shy away from this luxurious fabric. Amitabh Bachchan shows us how to do velvet right. The actor wore a snazzy velvet jacket, black pants and white shirt to the People's Choice Awards. Would love to see more velvet jackets on the red carpet.
