All in What's New

Take a look at the Gucci Spring/Summer 2014 Advertising Campaign. The campaign has been shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and features models Amanda Wellsh and Elisabeth Erm, Tommaso De Benedictic and Luca Till Statscheit.

Shot on a scintillating red backdrop, these images have a super rich feel. They also capture the mood of the Gucci Spring/Summer 2014 brilliantly. My take away: luxe sportswear inspired clothing, exotic leather, fringes and prints.

On February 19thSwarovski introduced an elite audience to an exclusive event entitled Swarovski Sparkling Inspirations 2014, where beautiful, crystal-adorned objects from a variety of creative arenas were showcased.

I find it difficult to imagine a time where we had Indian wedding attire without Swarovski. Clearly Swarovski encrusted couture creations were a highlight of this evening. Extraordinary designs were showcased from Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, Gaurav Gupta, JJ Valaya, Manav Gangwani, Manish Arora, Manish Malhotra, Ravi Bajaj, Rohit Bal, Sabyasachi, Shantanu Goenka, Suneet Varma and Tarun Tahiliani.

Attended the DLF Emporio Design Awards 2013-2014, on February 18th in Delhi. Students from leading colleges sent in their entries, keeping with this year's theme, 'Reinventing The Classics.' Budding design ethusiasts presented their interpretations of the iconic creations such as the Burberry Trench, Dior Bar Jacket, Fendi Baguette and traditional saree. At the risk of sounding cliché, it was a great effort all around and nice to see such a unique platform to showcase one's talent.

I am yet to own an Anamika Khanna piece :-( The designer continues to impress with her stunning designs season after season and I am eagerly waiting for a worthy occasion to add one of her outfits to my wardrobe.

While I wait, London got a taste of Anamika Khanna's creations with an exclusive preview at Aashni+Co hosted by Priyanka Gill. The writer and investor, brought together crème de la crème of London’s society, including Bina Agarwal, Rishika Lulla, among others for this special unveiling of Anamika Khanna's Couture Collection.

Ornate head-pieces are all the rage this season. You've seen the crystal encrusted head bands, polki mang tikkasand now say hello to the Matha Patti. This jewelry piece features one central chain along other chains that flow along the hair line and is no longer meant only for brides.

I started scouting for these on-trend head-pieces and found some stunning ones from Outhouse that are available at Pernia's Pop-Up Shop. You can take your pick from those made with antique gold beads or those withSwarovski and pearls. Take a look...

Multi-designer store, Atosa, by Aparna Badlani and Azmina Rahimtoola, hosted a special preview for the latest Spring/Summer 2014 collections of designers Nishka Lulla, Vaishali S and Ravage by Raj Shroff. Also on display at the event were exotic pieces of  jewellery by Zarrin.

“This summer is all about minimal, no fuss looks with lots of solids and bright colours, that celebrate the season. Nishka, Ravage and Zarrin go with this thread of thought while Vaishali S once again works with weaves and textures of Indian textiles albeit with a sense of lightness," says Aparna Badlani of Atosa.

Moët & Chandon and Le Mill hosted a Valentine's Day dinner at The Gallery, Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai. The evening marked the unveiling of Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial's Valentine's Season.

"Guests including Pirojsha Godrej, Abhay Deol, Preeti Desai, Kamal Sidhu, Poorna Jagannathan,  Bandana Tewari, Shaana & Uraaz Bahl, Anaita Shroff Adajania, Pratima Bhatia and  Rohini Yvon were seen reveling in the spirit of the Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial as they indulged their romantic side."

Ensemble has launched Manish Malhotra's first ever shop-in-shop at their Lion's Gate store in Mumbai. Visited the shop yesterday and was happy to see that they are carrying the entire range of Manish Malhotra's creations from the bridal to the diffusion line.

I particularly liked the colour-blocked tunics (you can see them on the left side in the picture above). Nice and bright for the summer; besides you don't need to then wait for a big occasion to put dress up in some Manish Malhotra.

My engagement ring was a complete surprise, I had no idea what it looked like nor when I was going to get it. It is a plain band with a heart shaped solitaire and ever since I have had a special liking for jewelry with stones in set in the shape of a heart.

Mirari's Captivating Hearts collection features some stunning pieces. Certainly some of the best earrings and pendants with the heart motif that I have seen. Take a look...

As part of the Valentine's Day celebrations, DLF Emporio has unveiled limited edition designer teddy bears that are available for sale. The cuties have been designed by leading designers such as Manish Arora, Satya Paul, Suneet Varma and Raghavendra Rathore to name a few.

My personal favourite are the ones in the picture above. Looking at the lipstick print, I am sure you have already guessed that they have been designed by Satya Paul.

Take a look below to see more of these adorable gifties...

Mr. Jean-Guillaume Prats – CEO & President, Moet Hennessy Estates & Wines played perfect host to Delhi's swish set at hotspot LAP asMoët Hennessy Estates & Wines formally launched Chandon in the Capital. Chandon is the company’s first sparkling wine to be made in and for India. To celebrate this momentous launch actress, Kalki Koechlin joined Delhi's who's who the guest of honour at this soirée.

Attended the special evening organized by Lilavati Hospital and Cineyug Entertainment to raise awareness of the "Save & Empower The Girl Child" initiative.

To support the empowerment of the girl child, Bollywood celebrities Madhuri Dixit, Lara Dutta, Preity Zinta, Malaika Arora Khan, Evelyn Sharma, Mandira Bedi, Swara Bhaskar, Lucky Morani and Eesha Koppikar walked the ramp in stunning creations by Manish Malhotra. Apart from the fashion show, another highlight of the evening was a thought-provoking performance by Shaimak Davar's dance company. Excellent effort by everyone involved to bring attention to a very important cause.

I have had a very sheltered upbringing and am very fortunate that my parents are unbiased in their thinking. Growing up, I always believed that these issues only concern uneducated people and didn't quite pay any attention. Once out of my parent's bubble land, I was in for a rude shock and realized that discrimination against girls is a reality everywhere regardless of education or social status. Also, it is not just the extreme cases of female foeticide or rape that count as cruelty. Educated people living in the big cities with all the exposure in the world also ill-treat girls in the name of tradition and culture on a daily basis. At the risk of sounding preachy, all I'll say is that don't turn a blind eye, however big or small the matter, what is wrong is wrong. And, if nothing else spare a thought.

I became a proud mami (for the first time) to a beautiful baby girl last month. Still can't get over the fact that I am officially now an "aunt," however, this new addition to our family has opened up a whole new world to me... that of baby clothes...

They've been there all along and didn't seem to have my attention, but all I am seeing these days are clothes, shoes and accessories in teeny tiny sizes.

One of the best collections for childen and even newborns that is currently available in India, is that of Gucci. They seem to be carrying a great number of options in their children's section. Here is a look at some really adorable pieces from their Spring/Summer 2014 collection.
