Amrita Thakur showcased her "Salma-Sitara" collection on Day 5 of Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012. Lots of bringt colors with shimmery embellishments as the name suggests. Very wearable pieces, I can totally see them as the perfect option for all the festivals. Really liked the different ways that the designer draped the dupatta with each outfit. Also, I am partial to flats and love the juttis. :-)
This collection has been inspired by the colloquial term, 'salma-sitara' used by women referring to embellisments that add shine and shimmer to garments thereby transforming it into something beautiful. It is a delicate balance of the tradition and contemporary with earthy embroidered motifs set on vibrant coloured, flowy fabrics that have been threaded together to add that tad bit of fun, some shimmer ans some shine to every celebration and festivity.
