I have been swimming daily; which results in dry skin and damaged hair. As annoying as it is, I do wear a swimming cap, but the chlorine filled finds its way and I am left with no choice but to wash my hair almost every day. After trying countless shampoos, I have found one which seems to be the mildest and most suitable for the months I will spending hours in the pool.

L’Occitane Huiles D’Olivier Olive Nourishing Shampoo. This is a silicone-free, sulfate-free, creamy shampoo, that is very gentle on the hair. It is recommended for dry and damaged hair, which works perfectly on my curls.

The thing that threw me off at first was that it doesn’t lather at all. However, it leaves my scalp feeling clean and fresh, which is all that matters. As I am shampooing my hair so often, I usually just keep it to one wash and rinse. Enriched with olive oil, it leaves that hair supple and shiny.

I would not recommend this shampoo on days you have applied oil to your hair. You will need something a bit stronger than this to get the oil out. Additionally, if you have textured hair; being so creamy, this shampoo, reduces the appearance of volume as it tames the hair. Therefore, I would also skip it on days, you want the big crazy curls.

I also using the conditioner from the same series and I am happy with that as well. Also, silicone free, it leaves my hair feeling softer than ever.

I have used the shampoo with other conditioners and it works just as fine. To me there didn’t seem to be a compulsion to use the two together. The shampoo, I wouldn’t be traveling without. The conditioner, I am okay to mix it around.
