How To Wear A Printed Maxi Dress? | Summer Essentials
I've always been biased towards short dresses and have started enjoying wearing maxi dresses only recently. I have to say though they are a really good option for summer. They are cool and comfy, while looking uber chic all at the same time.
I personally prefer the printed maxi dress as opposed to the solid colours ones as I enjoy the vibrancy a print adds to any outfit. Maxi dresses are only meant for tall and slender people is a big misconception. You can wear a Maxi dress regardless of your shape and size.
If you feel you are petite and will look overwhelmed by the print and length of the garment; simply opt for a snug maxi dress. It need not be fitted all the way, even one which has a fitted bodice and then a free flowing bottom will be better suited for you.
Similarly, if you feel like you have heavier upper body (like me), opt for maxi dresses with a broad strap. I am wearing a strapless one here, so I have added a short jacket on top. The layering looks cute and I have covered my "problem areas."
When it comes to footwear any open sandals would do the trick. Not often that I like to play by the rules, but when it comes to a maxi dress closed shoes, specially boots are a big NO. Also, keep the attention on the dress so wear shoes that are simple and neutral. Wedges, flats and gladiators would all look great with a maxi dress.
I am wearing my printed maxi dress from BCBG Max Azria, with a Zara denim jacket, Salvatore Ferragamo wedges, Ray-Ban sunglasses, Furla Candy Bag and rings from Manish Arora for Amrapali.
