Work The Tee
I am a jeans, t-shirt and sneakers kind of a girl and if I had it my way, I'd wear a t-shirt everyday. With that thought in mind, I decided to style the off-duty staple with a workwear twist. Most offices tend to have casual Fridays, where you can wear a t-shirt to work, but that doesn't mean you go in looking like a frumpy version of yourself.
I have taken one of the most causal pieces in any girl's wardrobe and paired it with a garment which falls in the formal end of the spectrum, a pencil skirt. I've also tucked the t-shirt in neatly to give this look a more sophisticated edge.
For those of you, who are a bit conscious about your tummy area and avoid tucking in your shirts or t-shirts. You can cheat the eye by wearing a tone on tone skirt and t-shirt. By using this simple trick you don't create a break and draw attention to your waistline.
For workwear, I feel it is important to keep the accessories minimal and the overall look clean. So I added a cuff, structured day bag and patent leather pumps to complete the look.
I am wearing a P.A.R.O.S.H. Skirt, Sonia by Sonia Rykiel T-Shirt, Louis Vuitton Bag, Christian Louboutin Pumps, Tom Ford Sunglasses and an Hermes Cuff.
While I have gone for an all black look, you can pair a really bright skirt with a solid neutral colour tee or the other way around. Apart from the pencil skirt, you can also tuck the t-shirt into business trousers or wear them with well-fitted denims and a blazer.
Have fun with this look and if you are planning on recreating this outfit for work, be sure to keep the following in mind:
- Make sure your t-shirt is not see through
- Keep the length of your skirt work appropriate
- Wear shoes with heels that you can last in all day
