Midnight Tunic by SVA ~ Three Ways
The modest Tunic, is now very much in vogue with leading designers updating it in terms of length, cut and design. I took this tunic from SVA by Sonam & Paras Modi to create three different looks that are easy to put together using basics from your wardrobe.
For the first (and my favourite of the three), I took this sheer georgette tunic and wore it as a dress. I am wearing a fitted black jersey slip dress underneath which is slightly shorter in length as compared to the tunic.
Typically when wearing a silhouette such as this I prefer to add a belt on the dress. However, when in doubt, I follow only one style mantra, 'keep it simple.' So, given the embellished tunic and statement bag; I decided to give the belt a miss. This styling also gives the tunic a fresh and young look.
I wanted my hair to be open but off my face, so that I am not fidgety all evening. I've simply twisted the sides and pinned them up to create this hairstyle.
The lightweight fabric made it easy for the tunic to be tucked in to be worn as a top. Once tucked in the pleating around the neckline become pronounced and enhance the overall look of the top. As the the top and sleeves are loose fitting, I have opted for a fitted pair of denims. A chain-strap, Lavin Happy Bag and Christian Louboutin pumps finished the look. I made a deliberate effort to keep the gold at a minimum when it came to the accessories to make it a more polished look.
A fancy hairdo would be too much, so I have simply tied my hair in a high ponytail. I've kept the jewellery to a minimum wearing only my Bulgari Parentesi Band Ring and Cartier Love Bracelet.
Probably the obvious pairing when opting for a tunic is a pair of tights or tunic. Ladies please make sure the length of the leggings is just right for you and finishes at your ankles. You don't want to have gathers at the bottom because this is not supposed to look like a churidar.
To give it that Indian touch, I have pulled back my hair, lined my eyes with kohl and worn polki earrings. The bling of the jewellery and appliqué was enough for me so I opted for a neutral chalk Bottega Veneta knot clutch. Platform sandals from Saint Laurent completed the look.
For the most flattering result, make sure your slip and leggings are well fitted, if possible opt for ones which are in the same colour.
