Winter Look Book ~ Cowl-Neck Poncho
Capes and Poncho's are back in vogue. Given the relaxed fit and comfort, they had never really left my wardrobe, but I am happy to report that they've got the fashionistas' nod this winter.
Wore this winter look while stepping out in Delhi last week. Wearing a chocolate cowl neck poncho with tights and suede boots. This oversized sweater in an earthy tone makes for a sophisticated wintery look.
A poncho sweater is really easy to wear. You can throw it over a t-shirt and jeans or tights. Given the loose fit, opt for bottoms with a skinny fit. I personally prefer a poncho with a big round cowl-neck as I find the turtle neck ones to be a little stuffy.
While purchasing one, make sure to double-check the length. A poncho that hits your thigh will be the most flattering on you, anything too short will make you appear wider than you are. Another deciding factor for me is the quality of the wool. I am wearing one made of merino wool in the picture, which is light, soft and most importantly warm.
If you feel as though you'll need layering, then don't wear a jacket because the loose fitting sleeves will make that uncomfortable. If it becomes too chilly, a cape would be a good alternative (to a jacket) to wear over a poncho.
Also, who says you can't pair brown shoes with a black bag? Not one to follow "fashion rules," I have finished the look with a Chanel Grand Shopping Tote with my precious Fendi monster.
