Casablanca ~ Souk
I am going to turn the big 3-0...very soon. No I am not sulking...haven't had the chance to because I am too busy getting pampered cause it is BIRTHDAY MONTH!!!
I was taken completely by surprise when I went for dinner to one of my favourite restaurants in Mumbai, Souk at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel recently. Instead of being escorted to a table at the restaurant, I was taken through the kitchen to a cozy little space called the Casablanca room. Located within the kitchen separated by stained glass doors and over looking the Gateway of India, is this Chef's table.
The private room is fitted with Mediterranean artefacts, designer crockery from the house of Versace, heart-shaped cushions, red roses and only candles (that explains my pictures) for lighting to set the mood for the nine course dinning experience.
As much as I love food, I am also a picky eater (allergic to seafood, don't go near most vegetables etc. etc. ), so it was great to learn that the manager had discussed the menu with my husband, several days prior to our dinner, to create a different menu for both my husband and I according to our preferences.
Each course was super special so really it is hard to mention anything as a highlight. I recommend you browse the picture gallery as each plate of food was delectable. What made it even more special was that each course was served to us by the Chefs of the restaurant. They came in course after course to talk us through our meal.
An evening at the Casablanca room at Souk, is really the way to go when celebrating a special occasion or special someone... The setting, the food and of course the company... truly an evening I can never forget.
Only problem is that I have no idea how my husband plans to top this on my actual birthday.... hehehehehehee (evil laugh...yes I know I am spoilt).
