Sneak peek into the Himalayan Couture collection by Shantanu & Nikhil

Sneak peek into the Himalayan Couture collection by Shantanu & Nikhil

Himalayan hosted an exclusive preview of Shantanu and Nikhil's Lakme Fashion Week collection last week at Bandra's Bungalow 9.

The event started with eminent artist Brinda Miller putting finishing touches to her work of art inspired by the Himalayas. It was a first for me and a unique experience to see a painter at work. The finished artwork will be on display at Lakme Fashion Week so keep a look out for it.

Spoke with the designer duo about their collection and here is what you can expect from their latest fashion story. As always the inspiration lies with the experiences of a woman and this season they are all set to take us through the next phase of their muse's life. While their trademark elements of grandeur and romance are all there, but with an edgy twist.

With darker colours such as the cobalt blue, their designs embody a more fiery persona that can almost be dubbed as a warrior princess.  They have also borrowed from the timeless beauty of the Himalayas to bring us their latest collection for men and women.

I for one cannot wait for the show... :-))

We are very excited to partner with Himalayan for Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2014. The brand philosophy of ‘Live Natural’ finds resonance with the sensibilities of our current collection. The Himalayan Couture Collection is timeless, natural and distinctive. Creating a symphony with nature suffused with imagery of greys, blacks and whites, the collection is an ode to nature and the Himalayas. The contemporary lehngas, concept anarkalis and cocktail gowns aesthetically balance the sharp distinctive form of menswear, through an interesting pairing of round skirts.

The Himalayas are, of course- one of the most iconic natural wonders of the world. Himalayanscape captures the journey of water from the source (the sky) to its eventual destination on earth. This is exactly what the brand Himalayan is all about- water drawn right from the source. I am glad to partner with the brand and look forward to displaying the piece at the Lakmé Fashion Week.

It is great to partner with such renowned names from the fashion and arts fraternity. Both Shantanu & Nikhil’s collection and Brinda Miller’s painting bring alive the ‘Live Natural’ brand positioning of Himalayan, highlighting the pure, timeless and distinct characteristics of the brand. We look forward to showcasing the collection and the work of art at the Lakmé Fashion Week in the coming week.
