OSAA Fall/Winter 2014 Preview

OSAA Fall/Winter 2014 Preview

Kolkata based designers seem to be the talk of the season and most recently, I attended designer Adarsh Makharia's preview for his label OSAA in Mumbai.

The event showcased OSAA's Fall/Winter 2014 collection "An Evening at Marble Palace" inspired by the rich heritage of Kolkata.

The collection features stylish separates such as cigarette pants, short jackets, crop tops, tunics and stoles making it extremely wearable. You can dress it down or jazz it up to suit the occasion. For instance, you can wear one of the embroidered crop tops over pants or as a blouse with a saree. Not only do you get more options with each piece, you need not wait for a big occasion to wear your designer clothes.

Also part of the collection are sarees, anarkalis and lehengas that reflect the splendour of the 19th century Kolkata mansion, Marble Palace that the line is named after. These couture pieces feature traditional motifs and cutwork that exude an old world charm.

Drenched in a vibrant colour palette of yellow, pink and indigo, these creations have been constructed using materials that are special to various parts of India and developed specially for this line.

While rich in texture and look, the clothes are deceivingly light weight, making them quite contemporary and stylish. Elegant and feminine would be the best way to sum up the OSAA Fall/Winter 2014 collection.

We are delighted to introduce a collection that is steeped in heritage yet very fashionable. At OSAA we try to bring to the fore Indian textiles and embroidery with a contemporary touch. With this collection, we have created a distinct look for the Fall/Winter season.
