WIFW AW 2014 ~ Tarun Tahiliani
Designer Tarun Tahiliani opened Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week with his Autumn/Winter 2014 collection.
Not to take anything away from the designer and his exquisite designs but this runway show has been trending on social media since yesterday for Shilpa Shetty’s abs. Needless to say Ms. Shetty stole the show as the show-stopper. She certainly is one Bollywood star who does complete justice to the ramp. Also, can we please note her long neck adorned with the gold neckpiece. Dishkiyaaoon stars, Harman Baweja and Ayesha Khanna also walked the ramp dressed in all black. Now that I’ve got that out of the way, I can share my thoughts on the clothes.
Tarun Tahiliani turned towards jewellery this season, taking inspiration from ornaments found all over the world. The runway show proved to be a celebration of Indian heritage and colours.
The show began with Satlada inspired series with embellished necklines complete with gold collars and cuffs as well as decadent necklines. While these pieces in particular don’t require you to wear jewellery, I know my mom will be thrilled to see a collect that would work best with gold jewellery.
Another series of outfits that stood out for me was “The Regalia Trousseau Collection." Complete with bold festive colours of red, kesar and hot pink in ombre dyes. Featuring gota lehengas with brocade blouses and grand lehenga sarees.
In terms of styling I loved the flat shoes, so much for all the people who say “you need heels lend a certain grace to an outfit.” I am happy to report that flats can look just as elegant.
As always Tarun Tahiliani’s show was a visual spectacle and I loved every bit of it.
